Christopher Street Day (CSD) Parade is an annual outdoor lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) celebration that takes place every summer in Germany and Switzerland. The party commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1969 in New York that happened after police raided a gay bar on Christopher Street.
The CSD party includes a parade of brightly coloured floats with sound systems, live music or DJs. The party also serves as a platform for political campaigns and discussions about LGBT rights. In Berlin, the floats assemble at 0930 at Knesebeckstrasse before beginning the parade at 1200 towards Strasse des 17 Juni between the Siegessaule Victory Column and Entlastungsstrasse where a music festival complete with food, drink and music awaits.
